 In ancient Indian scriptures, it is mentioned that there are three different worlds. The names of these three worlds are Swarga, Mrityu and Patala. In Sanskrit, these three worlds together are called as Trailokya or Triloka. There are many descriptions and
stories mentioned in ancient Indian scriptures regarding Trailokya. It is mentioned that Devatas (gods) live in Swargas, humans live in Mrityu Loka and Daityas (demons) live in Patalas. It is mentioned that in Mrityu Loka (world) life is short. But those who live in Swargas and Patalas enjoy a long life.

 In these ancient Indian scriptures, it is mentioned that Devatas (gods) have six month long day and six month long night. So, one complete day of Devatas (gods) is of twelve months. Surprisingly this phenomenon occurs only in Northern Polar Region and Southern Polar Region! In Vedas and Puranas, there is description of Sun's Chariot and its path of rotation around Meru Mountain keeping Meru Mountain on right-hand side (North direction). In Purana's it is mentioned that Mansottara Mountain is on the totally opposite side of Meru Mountain and Sun's Chariot rotates around these two mountains. This description is very close to the sun's rotations as seen from North Pole and South Pole!
